Abrams ComicArts, New York, 2024

Uncorrected proof of the first American edition, softcover, 26 x 21 cm, 160 unnumbered pages in poor-quality paper, printed in black and white. Publisher’s grey wrappers, lettered in white. The front cover features the same illustration by Larcenet as the first French edition with the text “Free Uncorrected Proof Not For Sale”. The back wrapper includes a summary, and a blurb by Publishers Weekly. It states September 2024 as date of publication, noting that the finished book “will print in full color”.

CONDITION: a very good to near fine copy.

Despite being labeled as an “uncorrected proof,” this is more accurately an advance reading copy with finished covers. It was issued a few months earlier than the first trade edition for marketing purposes.

The publisher has preferred not disclosing the total number of copies printed.

COLLECTING TOPICS: uncommon, with only three copies surfaced on the market, including this one. However, it is less scarce than the proofs of the French edition, that were issued in approximately twenty copies, none of which have appeared for sale as far as I know.
