First English edition, first printing with full number line 135798642 on the copyright page. Hardcover, 24 x 15,6 cm., 189 numbered pages, with numbers appearing only on odd-numbered pages. Publisher’s black cloth lettered in metallic black on spine. Photographic endpapers by Bernice Williams/Arcangel Images. Original red, blue, black and orange dust-jacket (blue front panel) designed by Stuart Wilson of Picador Art Department on the basis of a photo by zodebala/Getty Images. Lettered in black. The front flap shows a price of “£20”, the back flap a photo of McCarthy by Derek Shapton. The back panel has a white box with the printed ISBN number. 

CONDITION: a fine copy.

Published on December 6, 2022 at £ 20 in a print run of 10,000 copies.


The first English edition was published simultaneously with the Knopf first American edition. The publication was scheduled for November, 22, but was delayed. The data about first print run come from the Picador records.

COLLECTING TOPICS: copies of this first English edition are common. I haven’t come across any signed or inscribed copy.
