First Folio edition, first printing with “First printing 2022” on the copyright page. Hardcover, 22,9 x 14,9 cm, 301 numbered pages. Publisher’s red, black and grey paper covered pictorial boards lettered in grey and white, with an illustration by Gerard DuBois who provided also the black and white illustration on the title page and six color illustrations throughout the book. Housed in a plain black paper covered slipcase. The slipcase is wrappered in a protective glassine. Issued without a dustjacket.

CONDITION: as new in slipcase, outer glassine with one single crease.

Published on October 11, 2022, at £ 49.95, in a first print run of 3,500 copies.

This edition follows the text of the 2010 Picador edition with minor emendations.

LATER PRINTINGS: the book went in a second printing of 2,000 copies in 2023, stating on the copyright page “Second printing 2023”.

COLLECTING TOPICS: despite the fact that the first printing sold quickly, copies in fine are easy to find. As of December 2024, a dozen of copies were available in the web priced between $100 and $330. That said, even the craziest McCarthy collector should not purchase such a book for three hundred bucks.
