Outer Dark, first paperback edition, Canadian issue.

Ballantine Books, New York, 1970

First paperback edition, first (and only) printing. Canadian issue made from the American sheets and covers with the “95c” price on the front panel erased and “Printed in Canada” in a different type on the copyright page where the American issue has “Printed in the United States of America”. Softcover, 17,6 x 10,4 cm., pp. 215. White pictorial wrappers lettered in black and brown, text block edges stained in dark orange.

Unrecorded by APG.

CONDITION: very good.

Published in Fall or early in the Winter 1970, in an unknown number of copies

Woolmer’s and all the other main collections I am aware of lack it.

COLLECTING TOPICS: the only copy of the Canadian issue I have seen. Rare. At the end of August 2024, Peyton Gupton, a clever collector of McCarthy living in Knoxville, informed me that he has found another copy in lovely condition. In his copy the price on the front cover is not erased.
